“In my 30 years as a taxi driver I have seen what happens after dark and it ain’t pretty. I have had drunk people abuse me, spit on me, punch my car and threaten me. I can only imagine what will happen to a lone delivery driver who tries to refuse service.”
The residents have concerns that there has not been adequate consultation with the community regarding this development.
Victoria’s mental health workforce, including mental health nurses, social workers, peer workers, lived experience workers, occupational therapists and administrative staff, have been denied a pay rise.
While this is an important step towards addressing the rights of labour hire workers, the key to the success of this new regulation will be enforcement. I hope that greater attention will be paid to ensuring that labour hire workers are not exploited and have access to a safe working environment.
This is really important as historically those suffering from post-traumatic stress injury have either had their claims unfairly declined or the claims process has taken months and months!
