Had a very productive visit with residents surrounding the proposed Glengollan aged care development today.
This is a beautiful leafy neighbourhood that has long been protected by local planning laws.
I believe a 12 metre high development that overshadows homes, cuts down trees and will make an already small street overriden with traffic during the 2 year development and onwards is completely inappropriate.
The proposed development bypasses many local planning regs, so the council unanimously voted against the plan. Glengollan are now trying to take Knox City Council to VCAT.
Local residents have created an e-Petition that you can sign here – https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/council/petitions/electronic-petitions/view-e-petitions/details/12/412
I would like to thank Vicky and others for taking up this fight for the community!
Community group takes on aged-care development at VCAT
By Parker McKenzie Local residents opposing the development of a retirement village on their suburban street are attempting to raise funds and awareness for their cause as the battle heads to the civil tribunal. The group of residents spent the weekend gathering signatures for a petition and showing a state MP the site of the proposed build which they have dubbed the “Glengollan skyscraper”.
