Loneliness,
Father’s Day is approaching, and it’s important to recognize that many dads may experience heightened feelings of loneliness during this time.

There are various reasons why some fathers may not be able to see their children, such as relationship breakdowns stemming from financial issues, mental health challenges, substance abuse, infidelity, and more. Loneliness is a serious health concern that demands attention.

Federal MP Andrew Giles, co-chair of the Parliamentary Friends of Ending Loneliness, recently labeled loneliness as the “next global public health emergency” that requires immediate action. This discussion was also brought up by my former colleague Fiona Patten in the last Victorian Parliament.

The fact that we are openly talking about this issue fills me with hope. Let’s continue to raise awareness, support those affected, and work towards addressing this pressing concern.
