CONSTITUENCY QUESTION – support community TV

Jun 2, 2020 | Parliament

Mr BARTON (Eastern Metropolitan) (13:04): My question is for the Minister for Creative Industries and is an appeal for him to intervene and save the broadcasting licence for Channel 31. This valuable community service will be replaced with white noise from 30 June if we are unable to secure an ongoing licence. There are no other issues for this broadcast spectrum at this stage. Channel 31 gives a voice to multicultural communities, promotes local tourism through its hunting, fishing and four-wheel drive programming and provides work experience for our film and broadcasting students. I ask Minister Foley: will he support community broadcasting in Victoria and seek an extension of this broadcasting licence for Channel 31.
